Activities for the year 2002

The division has been carrying out investigations and studies with regard to carbon fibers on environmental protection movement world over, life cycle assessments (LCA), a material recycling and on the product liability acts in various countries. In the year 2002, technical and economic studies particularly on recycling of crushed carbon fiber reinforced plastics material (CFRP) and on using of the material as a feedstock of blast furnaces.

Recycling of Carbon Fiber is an important issue from the viewpoint of reuse of limited resources and reduction of load on global environment.
JCMA established a new project team to handle this issue seriously.
The division trying to reduce load to environment by application engineering to reduce wastes in every step starting from production of Carbon Fiber products as well as by proper handling and processing judging from waste recycle map (see example).
